Iowa Green Party was host for this year’s Green Party of the US Annual Meeting Thursday, July 24 thru Sunday, 28, 2013.  TN delegate to the National Committee, Howard Switzer, and Green Party of TN Chair, Katey Culver, were in Iowa City representing Tennessee. On Thursday Howard presented a workshop on Complimentary Currencies.  The history, psychology and myths of money were explored and real world solutions explored.  It was well received and opened a dialog within the Party about our policy approaches regarding money and our monetary system.  As a result an invitation was extended for Mr. Switzer to sit on a panel at the American Monetary Institute’s 9th annual Monetary Reform Conference in Chicago by the Monetary Authority Board Chair of the Green Shadow Cabinet.   The conference is Sept. 19-23.  Howard is available to talk to your group on this fascinating and healing opportunity to revitalize local economies.

Jill Stein and Cheri Honkala were in Iowa offering campaign workshops and participating in our organizational meetings.  It’s very nice to have this kind of sustained involvement from our previous candidates.  Perhaps the campaign is still on?….

Since their historic run, Jill Stein and Cheri Honkala have continued to actively promote Green Party politics by joining with others to form the Green Shadow Cabinet.  It is not affiliated with the Green Party.  It is a separate group to promote Green policy ideas.  It consists of many experienced people responding from pertinent cabinet positions to the issues of the day, presenting the response as it might look if Greens were elected.  See more at http://greenshadowcabinet.us/
